KVCR Installation

Build From Source

To build KVCR, a sane QT development environment is required. More specifically the tools: qmake, moc and uic are required. KVCR is NOT built using ./configure, make and make install. Instead it is build by using qmake and then make for each of the two executables and the copying them to /usr/bin/

File Locations

The File Locations in KVCR are hard-coded and for the program to function correctly the following files MUST be in /usr/bin/: mencoder, mplayer, at, cdrecord, mkisofs and kvcrupdate (the second executable in the KVCR package).

Other Setup Issues

Scheduled Recordings are handled by the AT daemon which must be running for the recordings to happen. The AT daemon opens up a non-interactive session to record the program. Most modern Linux distributions use PAM to stop a non-interactive session from using the TV card or sound card. See the FAQ document for details on how to solve this.
